Weight Distribution for 7500 lb 30 Foot Toy Hauler with 950 lb Hitch Weight
Question:
I have a 2002 F250 4x4 crew cab short bed 7.3 diesel towing a 30foot toy hauler triple axle trailer is 7500 pounds, 950 hitch weight, 12000 GVWR. Sway is an issue. Need suggestion on which Reese dual cam HP sway control I need. Thank you.

If the 950 lb tongue weight figure you mentioned represents the fully loaded and ready to tow tongue weight of the trailer, and includes the weight of of anything stowed in your truck bed behind the rear axle, then the Reese # RP66084 would be ideal. This system is rated for trailers with tongue weights ranging from 600-1200 lbs. The weight distributing shank is included, but you'll need the # 19286 2-5/16 trailer ball.
If you ever tow with the garage area empty, you'll also want to determine the tongue weight when the garage is empty. Having the garage empty will actually increase the tongue weight a bit, so finding a system that will accommodate both scenarios would be ideal.
If you find the tongue weight with the empty garage increases to above 1100 lbs, you might want to consider going to the next higher rated system, part # RP66130 which is effective on tongue weights ranging from 800-1500 lbs. The weight distribution shank, like part # RP54970 and the trailer ball (as mentioned above) are sold separately.
I'll link you to our help article that describes how to positively determine your trailer tongue weight.
