Are All 5.30-12 Trailer Tires From Different Manufacturers the Same Size

Question:

I recently ordered Kenda 5.30-12 Tire W/12 White Wheel - 4on4 - Lr C. The purpose of the tire is for a spare. On my trailer, I have Carlisle 5.30 x 12 Sure Trail ST tires. Came with the trailer when I bought is so I dont know much else. Anyway, I received the Kenda tire from E trailer and it seems quite a bit bigger than the Carlisle tires that are currently on the trailer. So I was under the impression that the 5.30 x 12 tires would basically be interchangeable, is this not the case? I measured the rim size and it seems to be the same. What am I missing as to why this tire is larger in diameter? I appreciate your help in explaining what am I missing?

Any given tire of the same size but from different manufacturers are going to be slightly different sizes. You also have to consider how much air is in each and tread wear. Tires also look different when mounted on a wheel versus not mounted. But it sounds like the differences are more than that by the way you describe it.

How much larger is the new tire compared to the ones on the trailer? A 5.30-12 trailer tire should be 21.9 inches in diameter and 5.6 inches wide. Make sure the Carlisle tires you have and the one you got from us both say 5.30-12 on the sidewalls, just to be sure everything is the right size.
