Question:

QUESTIONS regarding part # SP-297275 I want four 4 of these for a tandem axle OFF ROAD trailer. The 7/8 inch eye sounds great and should be VERY rugged. see No. 2 below....I want REALLY TOUGH, RUGGED bullet proof suspension 1. Your description says SLIPPER but I have heard of DOUBLE eye. WHICH is it? 2. Where do I find 7/8 inch hangers and equilizers to fit this spring?

Expert Reply:

The 5-Leaf Slipper Spring w/ Radius End for 10,000-lb Trailer Axles - 30-1/2" Long # UG54FR, is a slipper style spring. Double eye springs would have an eye on each end of the spring.

To build a double axle trailer with these springs you will need one of two tandem axle hanger kits, depending on the spacing you need between the axles for the wheel and tire combination you plan on using. The Tandem Axle Hanger Kit, # HAP-158-258-02, will give you 42-1/4 inches on center between the axles and the # HAP-158-258-03 tandem axle hanger kit will give you 48-1/2 inches on center between the axles. You will need to make this determination yourself by measuring the overall diameter of your wheel and tire combination and making sure you will have clearance between the tires. These kits include front and rear hangers, equalizers, and bolts and nuts needed for spring installation. You will still need U-Bolts and U-Bolt plates (see links) to attach the axles to the springs.

I am providing some links to additional information on replacing trailer suspension, if needed.
