Hitch and Hitch Bike Rack for 2005 Subaru Outback Wagon LL Bean Sport Edition

Question:

I have a 2005 subaru outback SPORT LL Bean. Im interested in the 2 bike hitch- mounted swagman and a class ii / 2inch hitch seems like it would serve all my outdoor needs and work for my car. However, I cant find a hitch on your site for my car. Could you suggest a hitch for my car and this bike rack?? Thank you!

Unfortunately the LL Bean Sport package on your 2005 Subaru Outback Wagon interferes with hitch installation so none of the 5 hitches offered for the 2005 Outback will work on your vehicle.

However you still have the option to use a trunk-mount 2-bike carrier. The Hollywood Racks # HRF2 is ideal for vehicles like your Outback that have a rear spoiler. Many otherwise excellent racks have trouble with spoilers, as that feature can interfere with their mounting straps. The # HRF2 is designed expressly to work around the roof line spoiler at the top of your rear hatch. I have linked an install video for your reference.

If you will be transporting women's, kid's or other bikes that do not have the main horizontal top frame tube (typical of a standard man's bike) then you will benefit from an adapter bar. The Hollywood Racks Bike Frame Adapter Bar # HRBA-PRO posts between the seat and handlebar posts of such bikes to keep them level on the carrier. This helps ensure safe ground clearance.
