I have an option for you, but I do not recommend using the Husky Universal Mounting Bracket Kit, # HT31563, on your 2004 Nissan Titan Crew Cab. Husky has not tested their universal kit on a Nissan Titan and the other fifth wheel hitch manufacturers recommend using a semi-custom or custom installation kit on your truck. You may be able to get the Husky brackets to work, but there are no vehicle specific instructions, so it would be up to the installer to make sure they are installed safely. Custom fabrication or modification may also be required.
For your truck, I recommend using the Curt Custom Install Kit, # C16470-204. This kit includes the custom design frame brackets and base rails. We do not recommend using frame brackets from one manufacturer with base rails from another manufacturer, so it would be best to use the Curt base rails that are included with this kit. You can use any fifth wheel hitch that uses the standard above-bed base rails with the Curt rails included with this kit, including your Husky sliding fifth wheel hitch.
A Sidewinder is an excellent idea when your truck bed is shorter than 6 ft, but I would like to remind you that a sliding fifth wheel hitch must remain locked in the towing position at all times when using a Sidewinder. Using the hitch in the maneuver position with a Sidewinder will put the pin weight of the trailer too far behind the rear axle of the truck and it will put additional stress on the trailer.
