Dimensions for Mounting Trailer Valet # STC-V211

Question:

In one of your replies you said that 8inch of real estate is need to mount the bracket for the STC-V211. We have a 2000 Skyline Nomad 225 Lite trailer. Please see the attached photo. There is about 8inch of useable space on the frame, but the L bars which support the battery box allows only a 5inch opening between the two bars. Is that enough space to mount the bracket? The attached photo shows the only spot available to mount the bracket. Please tell me if this will work or if there are any other viable options to use the STC-V211 trailer dolly. Thank you.

As you noted, the mounting bracket on the Trailer Valet Swivel Jack and Trailer Mover # STC-V211 requires 8 inches of space to mount. If the crossbeams on your trailer frame are roughly 5 inches apart, not including the width of the beams as shown in Image #1, it would be a very tight fit for the installation bracket.

Another consideration. Based on your photograph (image #1), it doesn't appear that you will have enough space to be able to swivel the trailer valet into travel position. According to the measurements shown on image # 2, from the bottom of the wheel to the top of the unit (while in a parallel position for traveling) the trailer valet measures 27-1/2 inches. Based on your image # 1, you will not have enough space to put the trailer valet into a parallel position.

If there is not enough room on the trailer tongue to mount the trailer valet as described, you may want to consider a dolly, such as the manual Rack'em Trailer Dolly, part # RA20. This sturdy unit has 13 x 4-inch tires and a 1-7/8 hitch ball, and offers the same 500-pound tongue weight capacity as the trailer valet. An advantage of this type of trailer mover is that you do not need to stoop over to crank and steer it, as you do with the trailer valet.
