Optional Circuit Protection, Fuse Rating for the Power Wire of the Bulldog Powered Drive Kit
Question:
I overfilled the batteries on my horse trailer and they boiled over and shorted out the electric motor on the jack. I checked everything according to instructions from a Bulldog tech and found that the motor was burned out. I have ordered the subject part number replacement and want to know if I can install an in-line fuse between the motor and the terminal block to protect the motor in the future. Do I need to put a fuse in both the red and black wires from the motor or just in one of the wires? Which one? Also, what amp fuse should I use? There is a 20A reset button in the switch box. Thank you for your help.

If you wanted to install a fuse for added circuit protection you would want to put it on the power wire for the Replacement Gear Motor for Bulldog Electric Powered-Drive Kit # BD1046130-00 and you would want it to be the same rating as the 20 amp reset button in the switch box.
