Are Additional Items Needed to Install Derale Transmission/Oil Cooler # D15903 in 2008 Silverado

Question:

I am considering purchasing the Derale Combination Transmission and Engine Oil Cooler for GM Applications, Code: D15903. I have a 2008 Silverado 2500HD with a 6.0 liter gas engine. It has a heavy duty cooling package, but I want to the temps of both the engine oil and trans oil a bit more to give me more of a cushion. Right now, my engine oil enters/exits the radiator, and the trans has a separate small cooler. Will I be able to utilize the hardware in the installation kit to connect to the exit lines for the existing Engine Oil and Trans or will I need other hardware?

A good first step in selecting a supplementary cooler for your 2008 Chevrolet Silverado with factory heavy duty cooling package is to confirm that there is sufficient space for mounting the cooler you prefer, combination trans/oil cooler part # D15903 from Derale. This unit measures 17-inches wide x 12-1/2-inches tall x 3/4-inches deep. You want to ensure there is enough space for both the cooler itself plus for the lines to be able to make gentle bends (no sharp right-angle turns) to ensure unrestricted fluid flow.

The ideal mounting location is in front of your A/C condenser where it will receive maximum air flow. The linked articles cover this and other considerations for aftermarket coolers.

You will need to use Derale's Snap-In Radiator Adapter Fitting # D13035 that is designed to work specifically with your Chevrolet Silverado's radiator. Please refer to the linked video. My contact at Derale confirmed that this is all you will need in addition to the cooler kit.
