How Wide is the Clamp That Attaches Skis/Snowboards of Thule Tram Ski Carrier Adapter part # TH9033

Question:

Thules information says the Tram can hold 6 pairs skis or 4 snowboards, however I have read reviews that say it is difficult to fill the rack to the published capacity given the thickness of modern binding plates and wide powder skis. Thule does not state the interior length of the closed clamp or the maximum thickness the clamp can accommodate and still close. These dimensions would be helpful to help determine if it will fit my needs.

I spoke to my contact at Thule and he informed me that the width of the interior of the clamp of the Thule Tram Ski and Snowboard Carrier Adapter part # TH9033 is 20 inches. I asked about the thickness it can clamp over and he said they do not have a figure for that since its rubber that will compress around virtually any binding. He said that a lot of people in his office gets new skis and boards every year and they have yet to have a problem with the clamps not being able to clamp over the binding plates.
