Fit of Hollywood Racks Express 3 # HRE3 Bike Rack on 2006 Volvo S40 Hardtop Convertible

Question:

Can I use one of these Trunk Bike Racks - HRE3 on my Volvo C70 2006 model with a convertible hard top? The roof dismounts into the trunk which means that the top of the trunk is not solidly in place like an ordinary saloon car but needs to open backwards to accommodate the roof. I have a Marin Bear Valley hard tail mountain bike which I would like to be able to carry to forested areas that are too far to cycle to. It weighs about 30 lbs.

If you'll be carrying women's bikes or bikes with sharply angled top tubes, you might want to consider a frame adapter bar like part # 64005. The bar spans the distance between the seat post and handlebar gooseneck, providing a level attachment point to the bike rack, which would maximize ground clearance.

And, I don't mean to be Captain Obvious here, but don't operate the roof with the rack in place. It'd be bad.
