Trunk Mount and Trailer Hitch Mount Bike Rack Recommendations for a 2013 Toyota Prius

Question:

Are there any trunk mount bike racks that could hold 2 bikes on my 2013 Toyota prius? Otherwise, Ill most likely have a class I hitch installed and which receiver hitch and bike rack should I use?

There are several trunk mount bike racks listed as a fit for your 2013 Toyota Prius. I have included a link to the options for you. The OutWay # TH45JV is a popular bike rack and the only lockable trunk mount available. The cables can be locked to deter theft of the rack and there is an integrated cable lock in the last bike position.

If your 2013 Prius has a little spoiler at the top of the rear hatch then I recommend going with the Hollywood Racks Over-The-Top rack, # HRF2, This rack has an extra top arm piece that moves the straps up and over the spoiler so no weight is on it. I have linked a video showing how it works.

If you do decide to go with a trailer hitch such as # 24847, then I recommend the Thule Helium Aero, # TH9042PRO. This rack is very light, only 18-1/4 pounds. It holds 2 bikes, it can tilt, and it has cradles with road dampening technology to getter protect the bikes. I have linked a video review of this rack for you.

If you will be carrying any bikes that do not have a top frame bar that goes straight across (like a typical men's bike would) then I recommend using bike adapter bar # 64005. This will allow you to carry those bikes more level and will provide better ground clearance. I have to use these adapters and without them my wife's bike would be at a severe angle and I would not be able to load my son's bike at all. I have linked a video showing how the adapter works.
