Installation Of Prodigy P2 Brake Controller On 2006 Toyota Tundra Double Cab
Question:
I want to install a Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller and Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter for Electric Brake Controllers Code: 90885-3040-P in my 2006 Toyota Tundra Double Cab. I think the above controller and adaptor will satisfy my needs. My only concern is where to install/mount the actual controller. etrailer.com videos and instructions are very helpful but, the 2004 4Runner dash, in the etrailer.com installation video, does not look like the dash in my 2006 Tundra. The 2007 Tundra dash, video link below is not the same dash as my 2006: http://www.etrailer.com/question-26250.html I will attach pictures of my dash. I can easily mount the controller at the lowest point of the dash on the right hand side to the left of the cigarette lighter. However, the distance drivers reach to the controller is not desirable. My dash has a recessed area on the right hand side, below the ignition key slot that looks perfect. However I do not want to remove the dash panel below and around the steering without knowing the location will work. I also need some instructions. The below video shows the panel removal and could be what I need to do. As you can see I have some pieces to the location and installation of the controller but need your opinion and instructions. I tried to upload two images, one of my dash and one example location. Thanks

With varied styles of dash configurations as you show in your attached photo of your 2006 Toyota Tundra, mounting the controller can be puzzling. We have not had the opportunity to install the controller on a 2006 Tundra so it would be difficult for us to say exactly where you should mount the Prodigy P2, part # 90885.
As the attached video shows they have mounted it to the right of the steering column at the bottom of the dash. You will want to make sure the location you choose for installation has enough support for the controller bracket when you are making any manual adjustments. The attached photos you sent do show the location that a brake controller would normally be mounted.
I have attached the installation instructions for the controller you can check out.
