How Does a Strap Attach to a Fulton T1401 Winch

Question:

I have a Fulton T1401 winch on my boat trailer. Ordered a replacement strap as the current strap is worn and showing signs of fraying. Actually looked at the winch itself today before attempting to replace the strap and notice that the current strap is not held onto the drum by a bolt, but appears to be woven or tied through two holes on the side of the drum. Havent pulled the old strap off but I can tell there are no bolts on bolts on the side of the drum so Im assuming the winch end of the strap is poked through one hole and them back through the loop in the strap and thats how its held onto the side of the drum. It also appears by the design of the two holes that the strap runs through that this is how the strap is intended to be affixed. Any ideas?

I believe that the holes in the drum are meant to wind a cable through but not a strap. The strap should be held on with a bolt that is close to the center of the drum. If you need the bolt then all you will need is a 1/4 bolt, 2-1/2 inches long, grade 5. You can get this bolt from a hardware store. You would want the type that has the threads just at the end for the nut so the strap is not worn down by threads.
