Going from 5.70-8 Trailer Tires on a Pop-Up Camper to 215/60-8

Question:

Im considering replacing the 5.70-8 4 on 4 with 215/60-8 4 on 4 on my small pop-up camper. Any pro/cons? Im thinking better stability but may heat up more than the thinner tire.

With a wider tire you may have a little more side to side stability on your pop-up camper. You should note that the 5.70-8 and the 215/60-8 both have very similar tire heights, but the second size is much wider and you will need to consider the clearance on your trailer to determine if you would have the clearance. This size tire is 8.9 inches wide.

You would need to go with a wider rim for the new size as well. For that you would want the Kenda 215/60-8 Bias Trailer Tire with 8" White Wheel # AM3H290. This has a 4 on 4 inch bolt pattern like you need.

As long as you keep the tire inflated to it's max psi and do not exceed 65 mph you should not have to worry about heat buildup.
