Will Fulton Hi-Mount Spare Tire Carrier # FSTC1000301 Fit on 3-Inch Round Trailer Tongue

Question:

Would a Fulton FSTC1000301 be able to be used on a round trailer tongue, or could you recommend a carrier that would work better. The diameter of the tongue is approx. 3inches. Thank you in advance for your help.

The Fulton Hi-Mount Spare Tire Carrier # FSTC1000301 is designed for use on square or rectangular trailer frames. Its grade 2 hardware would not be strong enough to withstand the necessary torque to hold it in place on the round tongue on your trailer.

However, you can make a simple modification to the trailer to allow you to use the Hi-Mount spare tire carrier. You simply need to have a qualified welder install a piece of steel plate to the tongue in a vertical position so that the mounting hardware for the carrier has a flat surface to grab onto. My contact at Fulton confirmed this will be a satisfactory method to allow you to use this spare tire carrier.
