To determine if the Thule Apex 2 Bike Carrier # TH9024XT will clear the spare tire on your 2008 Jeep Wrangler you will need to take one important measurement. You will need to measure from the center of the hitch pin hole on the hitch of your vehicle out to the furthest point out on your spare tire.
Check out the attached FAQ article on how to do this.
We have taken this measurement on similar Wranglers with the stock spare tire and found it to be 6 inches, but since your setup might be slightly different I recommend you take the measurement yourself.
The # TH9024XT has a distance of 12 inches from the center of its hitch pin hole to the nearest portion of the upright portion of the rack. If your measurement is less than that you should be fine to use this rack.
I attached a photo of the rack on a similar Wrangler and a review video of this rack being used on a 2012 Wrangler for you to check out.
If you plan to transport womens or alternative framed bikes without horizontal top tubes you may be interested in a Thule Bike Adapter Bar # TH982XT. This will allow the bikes to be carried more level and will provide more ground clearance. I have attached a video review of the adapter for you to check out.
