You can measure from the center of your existing gooseneck ball to the back of the cab on the Dodge and then measure the width of the trailer loft and divide that by two. If the measurement from the center of the hitch ball to the cab is 4 inches greater than one half the width of the trailer you should have room for clearance. If not you will need to purchase an offset gooseneck ball that is long enough to provide the 4 inches clearance needed to accommodate pitch and roll of the trailer when maneuvering.

The make and model of gooseneck hitch installed on your Dodge will determine the type of extension you will need. If you have a Hide A Goose hitch by Draw-Tite, Hidden Hitch and Reese, model numbers, 9460, 9461, 9462 or 9463, you will need the Gooseneck Hitch Ball with 2-5/16 inch Diameter and 5 inch Offset, item # 19308. If you have the Curt Double-Lock, Flip and Store gooseneck hitch, you will need the Curt 4 inch Offset Ball for Double-Lock Gooseneck Hitch, item # C602. Usually these extenders solve the clearance issues but if you have an extra wide trailer you may need to consider an alternate method of extending the hitch to accommodate your gooseneck trailer.
