Is there a Length Requirement for Towing a 5th Wheel Trailer with a Ram 3500

Question:

How long of a 5th wheel toy hauler can i pull with my Ram 3500? Single Wheels on the rear of my truck. I found a 39 ft unit im very interested in but was told i need a dually to pull it safe. Thanks for any information!

Length is not an issue unless there is some law in your state restricting the length of a truck towing a 5th wheel trailer.

You do not have to have a dually truck to tow a 5th wheel trailer. As long as the payload capacity is rated higher than the pin weight of the 5th wheel trailer when loaded and ready to tow and the gross trailer weight is within the capacities of the truck you can tow the trailer.

The towing capacities of the truck should be in the owners manual or on the Dodge towing website.

A dually truck is less likely to squat once the trailer is coupled to the hitch. But you've got a 1-ton Ram! Depending on the year and how it is equipped you can likely tow just about anything. Especially if it is a diesel. But check the owners manual, sticker in the door jamb, and/or the Dodge towing website to be absolutely sure first.

To recommend a hitch and installation kit I would need to know the year of your Ram 3500, cab style, and bed length. And I would need to know the gross trailer weight of the trailer you found to recommend the right capacity hitch.
