Recommendation for a Front Hitch and Bike Rack on a 2013 Toyota 4Runner Limited
Question:
I have a 2013 Toyota 4Runner Limited. Looking at the front mount Curtis 31054 hitch. Want to use it with a 2 bicycle hitch mount. Im worried that the hitch is too low to the ground. Would you recommend this hitch, and which bike mount would you recommend? Thanks

The Curt Front Hitch, # C31054, is an acceptable option to carry two bicycles but keep in mind that when the bikes are loaded, your visibility will more than likely be affected, your vehicle's headlights and air flow to the front of the engine could be obstructed. I also recommend contacting your state's highway patrol department to see if they have any restrictions regarding the height limitation for anything carried on the front of the vehicle.
The Swagman XTC-2, # S64670, is a platform style carrier that will fit the 2 inch front hitch. The XTC-2 secures the bikes at three different points and folds down for easy storage. I have included a video of this bike rack being used on the rear of a vehicle just to give you an idea as to how the bikes will sit in the carrier.
My personal recommendation, along with numerous customer feedback comments, is to carry the 2 bicycles on the roof of the 2013 Toyota 4Runner. If your 4Runner does not currently have crossbars attached to the factory rails, the Thule WingBar system would be a great addition. Use the 53 inch bars #TH711400 in silver or # TH711420 in black with the Evo raised rail feet # TH710401. These bars are very versatile and can be used with numerous accessories.
