Replacement Wheels/Tires for 1999 Haulrite Jet Ski Trailer

Question:

I have a 1999 Haulrite trailer that holds 2 jet skis. I need some replacement tires/wheels. The one good wheel is a newer Dexstar 17-227 with a Loadstar DOT 2QB5 U12 tire. I think that means is a 2012 tire. I am planning to get 2 new wheel/tires, so I have a good spare too. 1. Any ideas what the trailer alone weighs? 2. Should I get B rated or C rated tires? 3. Can I run a B tire and C tire together? thanks

HaulRite offers several different trailers capable of carrying two personal water craft. For example, their VWC Double HD uses ST185/80D13 Load Range D tires while their JS Double-13 uses ST175/80D13 Load Range B tires. Both trailers use wheels with a 5-on-4-1/2-inch bolt pattern.

The Haulrite website does not list the weights of these two trailers, but I suggest you simply replace the existing wheels/tires with pre-mounted replacements of the same rating. It is not advisable to simultaneously use two differently-rated tires on the trailer. There is no harm in using higher-rated tires than what was supplied originally but there is also not much to be gained. Upgrading tires to a higher load range does not increase the trailer's weight capacity.

You can use the link provided to see all pre-mounted tire/wheel combinations in the 13-inch size with the 5-on-4-1/2-inch bolt pattern. You can choose from radial or bias ply tires; galvanized, painted or aluminum wheels; and load ranges B, C or D. For example, in Load Range B we offer Kenda # AM3S050, which is a bias tire on a white powder-coat finish wheel, and which has a capacity of 1100-lbs at 35-psi.

Trailer tires should always be inflated to their maximum pressure as indicated on the tire sidewall.
