Does Derale Low-Profile Sandwich Adapter 25772 have a Thermostat
Question:
I have read on the Deral website that this sanwish adaptor have a Thermostat, but no where on the decription or technical detail is any mention of thermostat on this model. Does it have a thermostat? Does some of them come with thermostats and some not, and is there a code that distinguish when it has got a thermostat or not.

I checked with Derale and the Low-Profile Sandwich Adapter, # D25772, is thermostatic in a way but it does not have a thermostat. Basically, the pressure relief valve works like a thermostat. When the engine oil is cool it is thicker and that results in higher pressure in the lines. The oil will bypass the filter in this case.
Once the oil warms up enough then the pressure will drop enough and the oil will no longer bypass the filter.
