Can the Ultra-Fab Motorhome Hitch Be Used to Haul a 280 Pound Lightweight Motorcycle
Question:
is this hitch able to haul a 280 lb moped the bumper is strong enough
asked by: Chuck
Expert Reply:
This trailer hitch has a 350 pound tongue weight rating, so you will want to make sure that the weight of your Moped, and the carrier are under this combined weight rating.
For hauling your Moped you will want to make sure that you are using an RV approved carrier. Due to the extended length from the rear axle to the receiver, the forces exerted on the carrier and cargo will be exaggerated. That is why this hitch is intended to be used in conjunction with RV-approved accessories only.
Looking at the RV/Motorhome rated carriers that we currently have it looks like the weight of both your Moped and the carrier would exceed the hitch weight rating. Another option is to use a small trailer for hauling your moped.
