Troubleshooting Right Running Lights Not Working On a Boat Trailer

Question:

Hello! I have run into a problem with my boat trailer where the turn signals and brake lights work for both lights, but the running light only works on the left light. I drive a 2015 f150 and have checked all fuses in my truck and also tested the 4-pin connector on a different set of lights and everything worked. I have tried to look everywhere but I can’t find anyone that has run into the same issue as me. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!

You are going to want to check the lights on your trailer. If they are a bulb type the running light uses a separate filament inside the bulb which may have become damaged. You could also have a bad connector in the light itself. If you have LED lights it could be a connection issue inside the light or the diode for the running light itself is bad. You can use a Test Light # PTW2993 to test for power going into the tail light as this will tell you for sure if the power is getting to the lights. If not you may have a short in the running light wire to that light.
