Tow Bar Wiring Kit Needed For A 2022 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk

Question:

Hello, I just replaced my tow vehicle with a 2022 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk. I will need a base plate and a wiring kit. My local RV dealer can see/find the base plate but is having trouble finding the content part number for the wiring kit. Can you help with this? Thanks, Dan Hunter

Hey Dan,

For a 2022 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk you would need the Roadmaster Smart Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Wiring Kit for Variable Voltage LED Tail Lights # RM63MR. Your vehicle should be equipped with ParkSense proximity sensors and would have variable voltage wiring so smart diodes would be needed to properly send your light signals.

Since it sounds like you already have someone components you can swap over from the old towed vehicle I won't waste your time listing out the rest. If you end up needing help determining the right baseplate just let me know what tow bar you have so I can make sure to recommend a compatible fit for it.

Kevin, I currently have a 7 pin to 7 pin cable with one of the wires being a charge line that was needed for my last vehicle. Do you know if a charge line is needed for my Trailhawk? If not, I assume I would need a new 7 pin to 6 pin cable. Do you have that part number?

@DanH A 6-pole socket would still have a charge line pin in the middle. 6-pole connectors just don't have a reverse light circuit like a 7-way does. If you already have a 7-way to 7-way cable you can definitely stick with it. You just need make sure that the wire functions match up at each connection point. I've attached some wire diagrams above to help with the process. If you do want to switch to a 7-way to 6-pole cable and socket then you'll need part # RM-146-7
