Will the Yakima SkyBox 12 or 16 Cargo Boxes Clear Rear Hatch on a 2012 GMC Terrain

Question:

Will a skybox 12 fit my factory installed side rails so that I will be able to open my back hatch or will I have to go down to the skybox nx 16 with shorter length?

The Yakima SkyBox cargo boxes do fit the factory roof rack on your 2012 GMC Terrain. But to determine if either size box will allow you to open the rear hatch on the vehicle without interference you will need to take one measurement.

First, if the crossbars can be moved forward and backward on the roof rack, move the front bar as far forward as it will go. Then measure from the center of the bar straight back to the seam between the roof and rear hatch.

If that measurement is 57 inches or more then the SkyBox 12, # Y07334, will fit without interference. The 16 will also fit. If the measurement is 47 inches or more then the SkyBox NX 16 will fit, # Y95AV, but the 12 will not fit.
