Old Yakima RocketBox Is Locked With Key Snapped Inside Lock Cylinder
Question:
I have an old Yakima Rocket Box 7’ long X 2’W. I believe it was purchased, maybe 2004. The box is locked, the key snapped part of it is inside the lock cylinder. I have no other keys, no control key. How do I open the box, replace the lock core.

Hello Barbara,
That's certainly a lousy situation but there's nothing you can do apart from calling a locksmith and having them drill out the lock. There isn't a tool or any specific way to open a locked cargo box with the key stuck in it, so it's the only option. Then, assuming you have the SKS lock cores you will replace them with Yakima Same Key System (SKS) Lock Cores # Y07202.
