Troubleshooting a Blue Ox Alpha 2 Tow Bar That Won't Extend Freely

Question:

I have a Blue Ox Alpha 2 tow bar. After my past trip one arm of the tow bar does not move freely. The other arm moves in and out freely. I didn’t make any tight turns that I can remember that may have made it bind. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you Jeff

Hey Jeff, I did some research and I believe I know what your issue is. Your release levers are most likely attached to what looks like a rectangular "box" on each shaft. On the ends of this "box" are rubber/plastic inserts that can be pried off with a standard screwdriver. You'll need to remove the insert and to expose an adjustment screw. Back the screw off a little at a time until your bar extends and locks freely.

After this is done, I recommend spraying some WD40 on the fully extended arms to clean them. Be sure to wipe it off thoroughly then spray the arms with silicon spray. This will clean the arms and make sure they're properly lubricated for your future journeys.

If this does not work, let me know below and we can try something else.
