Replacement 15K AC Units for Dometic Penguin AC Units
Question:
Hello, I have a 43’ keystone Montana. It currently has 2 15k dometic penguin AC units that are both on the fritz. I am looking to replace the entire system but I would like the best set up possible as I like in SC and summers can get HOT. I need a system that will also still be able to support the furnace if possible otherwise I can run a separate thermostat. With that being said I’d really like the best performance, with minimal sound being close second. I’d really like a heat pump included as our winters are fairly mild and I think I could all but do away with the furnace. Can you tell me if this is the best system for me? Is there any difference in this unit and the non LED version? I’d prefer to not have the LEDs if there are no performance reasons. I also see that there tends to be a price difference in the black units and the white, I’m assuming the white would be better just to reflect the sunlight better? Is there anything else I will need to order with this kit to complete install? One last extra bonus point, I’ve really been trying to hold out for the new furrion chill cube to hit the market, but I just don’t think I can wait until it hits the market given no one has any idea when they will. Is there any update there? I’d order 2 right now if available. I could also be a test dummy if furrion needs one ?? hint hint furrion!

The Furrion Chill HE RV Air Conditioner System item # FR67FJ is one of our top of the line systems and would be a great replacement for your older Dometic Penguins. It has an industry leading 60 decibel sound from inside the RV which is quieter than a vacuum cleaner. You can add the Furrion Heat Strip Add-On item # FR27PR but you would not be able to run your furnace off of the included Furrion thermostat. You would need to keep a separate thermostat.
The Furrion kit item # FR67FJ and the item # FR24FJ are the same except the item # FR67FJ has LED mood lighting on it. If this isn't a priority for you, then I would go with whichever one is more cost effective. As far as the color difference it's just ascetics. There's not going to be a performance difference if you go with the black item # FR84FJ for LED or the item # FR47FJ. The shroud is different and that is it.
I have no word on the Furrion Chill Cube and that generous request would have to be directed towards Furrion.
