Is 550 lb Weight Distribution Hitch Overrated For 3,800 lb Trailer
Question:
Hi! Ive been told that my 550lb Pro Series WD spring bars are overrated for towing my 3832 GVWR trailer. Is that exact? Then what would be the right system?

Hi Sonia,
A trailer with a 3,800 lb GVWR will have a tongue weight in the 400 lb - 500 lb range, so a weight distribution hitch rated for 550 lbs is not overrated. While we don't have the Pro Series, for example the Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution Hitch # BXW0550 is rated for tongue weights between 350 lbs and 550 lbs, which your trailer would be right in the middle of, and rated perfectly.
