Need to Readjust Reese Pro Round Bar Weight Distribution Hitch For Trailer When Loaded
Question:
I have a 2012 Ram 1500 and recently purchased a 2021 37foot Ozark toy hauler. The dealer installed this hitch with no load in the trailer and it was great. Now Ive loaded 2 Harleys approx 1,400 in the rear and the front of the trailer seems to be riding high. Is there a way to adjust this hitch? Also twice on a 300 mile trip Ive pulled into a gas station and found 1 of the spring bars swinging, it had came out of the tab on the A-frame.

I have linked the installation instructions for the Reese Pro Round Bar Weight Distribution # RE44FR near the bottom of the page. This will show you how to adjust the hitch head height as well as the hitch head angle to ensure you get the best possible ride.
With the spring bar coming off the trailers A-frame brackets this tells me the brackets are likely to far back on the frame. The center of these brackets are supposed to be between 24.5" and 27.5" from the ball mount center of your coupler.
