Troubleshooting An E5 Error Code With An Atwood Air Command RV AC System

Question:

We have an Atwood Air Command RV AC with heat pump. We are getting the E5 error code. Outside coil temp reads 16°C. After resting over night and spraying the coils off to clean them the compressor will come on and blow cold air for short periods of time and seems to be in its normal cycle. Is there a way to clear the code manually or does it go away on its own when its fixed? We cant tell it its fixed or if its still having issues.

Hi Evonne,

The E5 error just means that the coils are getting too hot to operate, which is why the unit started working again after you sprayed it of and let it cool down. The coils could have just been dirty/clogged up not allowing it to breathe or it could potentially be an issue with the sensor on the control board. You can check your connection using the pictures I've attached below from the manual.
