Replacement Disc Brake Actuator for Older Atwood Cupler on a Road Runner Boat Trailer

Question:

I have a road runner boat trailer that used an atwood brake actuator for the disc. The master cylinder is bad and of course there are no replacement parts available. The actuator is welded into the trailer. I am looking for replacement options.

Hey David, thanks for reaching out!

I recommend checking out the 7K Demco Hydraulic Brake Actuator w/ Electric Lockout # DM62VR. This is a bolt-on installation, but it can be welded on as well. This is compatible with disc brakes and a 2" hitch ball so if you need any of the specs to be different just let me know and I can see if we have something that is a better match.

My favorite part of this coupler is the eZ-Latch system because all you have to do is drop the coupler on top of the hitch ball and it latches automatically.

Thank you for your response. I am also considering switching to electric over hydraulic brakes. My tow vehicle is a 2023 Ram 2500 diesel with a factory brake controller. Can you make a recommendation on a system that will be compatible with my vehicle to help me make my decision as to which direction I want to go.

@David Since your trailer already has the hydraulic disc brakes and your truck already has a brake controller the only thing you need is the Hydrastar Marine Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator w/ Breakaway and 7-Way RV Harness - 1,600 psi # HS381-9067. Your truck brake controller should be compatible with an EOH system but you might need to change a setting for it to work with it.
