How Can I Reduce Play When Using The Curt Channel Style Adjustable Ball Mount?
Question:
How much play is there supposed to be in the hitch and receiver, I checked hitch and it measures 1 7/8sinch my receiver inside dimension is 2. Just seems like its quite a bit of play, especially when pulling my camper and controlling the sway that i am having issues with now. Is this a common size for the hitch just seems like it should be a tad tighter.

Hello William. The Curt Channel Style Adjustable Ball Mount # C45900 is designed to work with any 2" hitch receiver. This is the standard size for a hitch, so it is highly common. A small amount of play is not unheard of, but there are ways to help minimize this. The best way is to use an anti-rattle device. Take a look at the Blue Ox Hitch Receiver Immobilizer # BX88224 this uses two U-bolts which tighten around the shank of the ball mount. This one is designed with 2 U-bolts so it will eliminate side-to-side and up-and-down play. They are very effective and easy to add-on so it comes highly recommended.
