Option For Replacing Dometic Duo-Therm Model 59516.531

Question:

I have a Dometec Duo-Therm model 59516.531 SN 609 37318 with a Duo-Therm Comfort Control wall thermostat and Atwood hydro flame 8500-IV series furnace. I need to replace the AC unit. What is the recommended AC and will I need to replace the wall thermostat? If so what is the recommended wall thermostat?

Hello Dewey, thanks for reaching out. To replace your Dometic Duo-Therm model 59516.531 I recommend the Advent Air for Dometic Setups # ACDOM150. This is a 15,000 BTU unit just like your Dometic. The advent units are made to be directly compatible with the Dometic AC systems. Meaning this will simply plug in and allow you to keep your current thermostat.

There is a thermostat available for the Advent units, part # ACRG15. This would require replacing the ceiling register as well. The Advent thermostat would not control your furnace though. So you would have to keep the current thermostat to control the furnace, and the Advent thermostat for the AC. Since you do have a furnace, using the Advent thermostat is probably not practical as long as the current one is working fine.
