Hitch Reducer For Using Yakima StageTwo On A Truck With A 3" Hitch Receiver

Question:

Iam interested in the Yakima stage two. My situation is I have a 3 inch receiver on my truck 2 inch receiver on my fifth wheel. I have two ebikes at 61 lbs each with battery in. Do you have a 3 to 2 inch reducer that would work or maybe use a 3 to 2 inch extender? Thanks Dave

Hello Dave, we have exactly what you are looking for. For a simple reducer sleeve, I recommend the etrailer Hitch Reducer Sleeve # e33YR. This will reduce the 3" hitch on your Ford truck down to a 2" receiver, allowing you to use the Yakima StageTwo Bike Rack # Y47VR. I like this option best because this reducer is actually a pair of reducers. Meaning you can reduce your hitch down to a 2-1/2" or a 2" receiver.

If you prefer a reducer/extender, take a look at part # 337RTA302. This will extend the hitch by 3-7/8" and reduce it down to a 2". I do suggest you stick with the reducer sleeve, unless the extension is absolutely necessary.

Also, I highly recommend that you remove the batteries from your E-bikes anytime you are transporting them on a bike rack.
