Installing A Breakaway Switch On A 2024 Ford Maverick With A Demco Tabless Baseplate
Question:
I am installing the BLU37TR wiring between the break away and the unit and have encountered a bit of a snag. This is installing in my 24 Ford Maverick with a Demco base plate. My question regards where I can mount the break away switch. The space behind the grill is shallow, the grill itself is plastic and not super strong, there arent a lot of options that dont interfere with the shutters, and a lower mount tends to cause wires to interfere with the base plate. Ive taken away what I can by looking at pictures of installs but it just gives me a ballpark idea. Any guidance would be appreciated.

Hey Robert,
I spoke with both Ryan and Jake (installers here at etrailer) since they've both installed the Demco Tabless Base Plate Kit # DM77YV. Both Brad and Jake stated it's tough on the Mavericks and that they either drilled a self-tapping screw through into the fascia or used a no-drill mount # 18136.
If you go with the no-drill mount then you can use the provided hose clamp to secure the bracket to the crosstube of the baseplate and then slot it through the fascia. Jake said that right in the center of the crosstube where there's a cutout worked best for him and fit with the fascia with very limited trimming. He cut the bracket down a bit so that it ended with fascia then mounted the breakaway switch to it.
