Is it Okay for Air Compressor to Still Run After Truck is Shut Off
Question:
I had a on board air compressor installed should it be on all the time or only when the key is on? the way they wired mine it runs after the key is out of the truck.

Hey Jeff, thanks for reaching out!
I took a look at a few of our installation instructions for different compressor kits, like the Firestone # F2610, and they all have the positive wire for the compressor going straight to the battery positive terminal. If you have a smart system that keeps the bags at a specific level then it sounds like that's what's happening after you shut the vehicle off.
If your compressor is continually running then it sounds like you have a leak somewhere and you'll want to spray everything down with soapy water and look for any air bubbles that indicate an air leak. Be sure to pay close attention to any connection points that were made during the installation as these are the most common places to have a leak.
