Can ST215/75R14 Radial Trailer Wheels and Tires Be Used in Place of 275/75R14 on a Boat Trailer?

Question:

I have a 25ft boat with 275/75 R 14s on it. Seems hard to find this in tire and wheel packages. Why is this?and would 215s hold up? Thank you

You may be able to go with a Karrier ST215/75R14 Radial Trailer Tire with 14" Galvanized Wheel # AM32182 but you will need to verify the difference in height and weight capacity will not be a factory from your 275/75R14's you currently have. I do see your tires are 30.2" tall and 10.8" wide with the new tires only being 26.7" tall and 8.5" wide. The big difference is the trailer will sit 1-3/4" lower to the ground so you will want to see if this will cause you any ground clearance issues. Since they are narrower tires there really isn't a concern for sidewalls rubbing. This particular tire and wheel can support up to 1,870lbs. You will need to verify if this is enough with your trailer and boat weight.
