Will One Weight Distribution System Work for Trailer that Weighs from 4,900 Pounds to 14,000 Pounds
Question:
I want a weight distribution hitch for my trailer. The weight could go from empty 4900 lbs to full 14000 lbs. What hitch do I need? Will one do for that range?

When choosing a weight distribution system you will need to go by the total tongue weight. This is calculated by taking the tongue weight of the trailer when loaded and ready to tow and adding to that the weight of anything loaded behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle.
On a trailer with such a large gross weight range, a single system is not likely going to work. But what you can do is use a higher capacity system and then when the tongue weight is lower, swap out the spring bars.
On a trailer weighing 14,000 pounds the tongue weight could exceed 2,000 pounds. The highest capacity system we carry is rated for 2,000 pounds tongue weight, # BXW2000. And you would need to add ball # 63840.
For times when the tongue weight is lower, between 550 to 750 pounds, you would swap the bars included with the kit above for bars # BXW4006. I have included some links on determining tongue weight and on weight distribution for you.
