Wobbly Head After First Trip w/ the Stromberg Carlson Electric Trailer Jack

Question:

I have an issue with the Stromberg Carlson JET-5000 I recently purchased. The head assembly move/wobble while operating. The head assembly was steady and solid on my first camping trip and on my second trip, a week later, I noticed the head assembly moving while lifting and lowering the camper. Please advise

Sounds like something loosened itself up after the first trip. I recommend lifting the cover and retightening the bolts on the Stromberg Carlson Electric Trailer Jack item # JET-5000. You'll want to check the mounting bolts too.

Thanks Jerred! The mounting bolts are solid. When I get the chance I will lift the cover and check the bolts. I'll report back on my findings. Thank you.

Jarred, I removed the cover as you recommended and found 4 hex bolts loose. I tightened the bolts and the issue was resolved. Thank you for your quick reply and recommendation. Bobby

I had the same problem with my new Jet-4500. I followed your suggestion. Opened the covered, and found the 4 hex bolts loose. Problem solved. Thanks. If it reoccurs, is it a good idea to apply some « loctite »? This seems to be a recurring problem, isn’t Stromberg aware of it?

@Jc That's great! Happy to help! Yes, you could use some of the blue Loctite like item # LT37643 to keep those bolts in place. Couldn't speak for Stromberg being aware the issue but I'll bring it up the next time they're here.
