Option For Replacing A Damaged Sundance Awning

Question:

I have a forest river, Salem, 25 foot travel trailer. It has a Sundance awning I let my awning out to dry and we got a sudden gust of wind, and it pulled the right arm of my awning off the side of the trailer where it connects with the footing. Unfortunately, it put strain on the aluminum arm. I’m struggling to find replacement parts as that line of awning has been discontinued. I cannot open my awning to get any model numbers I currently live in alberta Canada I was wondering if you could help I don’t mind replacing two new arms if in fact, it is discontinued, but I have no idea what I’m looking for as my model had semi round arms and I see the new models are rectangular. Thank you in advance.

Hello Christine, thanks for reaching out, and sorry to hear what happened to your awning. As you said, the Sundance awnings are discontinued, so there is going to be no way to get a single replacement arm for your awning. Your best option at this point will be to replace the awning entirely. A Solera awning will be a great option for a replacement. If you can tell me the width of your awning, as well as your preferred color, I am happy to make a recommendation. I will tell you up front though that most of our awnings ship via freight due to the size and we are not able to ship freight into Canada.

My awning is in great shape. Is there anyway that I can replace both bars rather than replacing the roller with the awning?

@Christine I am sorry but we do not offer any awning arms that are compatible with the sundance awning rollers. I know this is not what you had in mind but replacing the whole awning is the only solution we can offer.

I really appreciate your input so if I have to replace the whole thing, can I pick anything or with my trailer? I have to go with a specific brand. I have a 25 foot Salem Forest River travel trailer. It has a slide 2011

@Christine If you are replacing the whole thing you just need to make sure the replacement is the same length as the old awning. It does not have to be a specific brand. For example the Solera XL 12V Power RV Awning # LCV000334919-362241 is a 12' wide awning and is common on a lot of travel trailers. For this awning you will also want to be sure that your have 78" of space on the wall from the awning rail straight down for each bracket. There also needs to be at least 4-1/2" clearance between the awning rail and the top of the entry door in order for this awning to fit. The Solera Awnings are generally a fairly universal replacement, assuming your awning is a powered awning. Just let me know if you have further questions.
