What Ride Height Difference Is Acceptable On A Ram 2500 When Using A Weight Distribution Hitch
Question:
Hitch install for my RAM 2500 / Jayco eagle 322RLOK. I ended up with an Equalizer 1400/14000 lb hitch. I towed the camper to a flat parking lot to do the adjustments. First adjustment I got @ 55 of my weight distibuted back to the front axle. After talking to Equalizers customer service they recommended that I raise the L brackets one hole. 7 washers already installed I now have @ 85 of the load back on the front axle. I asked about the spring bars not being level after raising the L brackets and he told me in a perfect world the should be but ok if not. Do the numbers below look ok? Here are the numbers Truck receiver height 24.5 Camper coupler height top 29 Unhitched truck front fender height 41 and 3/8 Hitched no weight distribution 42.25 Weight distribution bars engaged 41 7 7/16

Hey Dave,
Weight distribution hitches, like your Equal-i-zer # EQ37140ET, won't get you exactly back to your factory ride height, but if you're within one inch of that height then you're good to go. If I'm reading this correctly you were at 41-3/8" unloaded and 41-7/16" loaded up with the spring bars activated, which is only 1/16" off. Ram's are typically harder to get right because of the rear coil spring suspension so for you to be that close you're honestly better set up than most installations I've seen.

Thanks for the reply. My concern is that the bars are not parallel with the trailer hitch but the rep at equalizer told me that is ok. I just wanted a second opinion
