Will 250' Worth of Chain Pull Down the Taylor Made Sur-Mark Regulatory Marker Buoy

Question:

Would you recommend using chain if the water is 250’ deep? Would the chain weight pull down the buoy? Would nylon rope last?

Hey Larry, thanks for reaching out!

The Taylor Made Sur-Mark Regulatory Marker Buoy # 36946104 has a buoyancy of 40 lbs so if the chain weighs over that then the buoy will sink - according to my research that much chain will weigh more than the buoy.

You can definitely use a nylon rope instead of a chain. I confirmed this with my contact at Taylor Made.
