Does Replacement Section for AC/DC Power Distribution Panel Come with Faceplate Cover

Question:

I need to replace Parallax 6332 inverter/charger with a PD4635V. Talking with PD, they state that this is the replacement unit to provide me 14.4V charghing for LiFePO4 batteries. Does this PD 4635V include the external cover faceplate? Are all the directions for install and LiFePO4 set-up included with product?

Thanks for reaching out, Mitch!

The Replacement Section for AC/DC Power Distribution Panel # PD4635V is a replacement so you'd reuse the cover that your unit already comes with. There are instructions that also come with this system and I'm linking them to this answer page for your reference.

OK, after looking at what I have, I see that this PD4635V is just going to replace the lower section of my Parallax 6332. Some more questions: Talking earlier with Progressive Dynamics (Dennis W.), they said the PD4635V is what I needed to upgrade my 6332 to LiFePO4 charging. The install instructions on your product web page states that the PD4635V is a replacement for a 6336 rather than the 6332. Why is the 6332 not listed? Your installation pages also indicate a PD4635 (Li) product for LiFePO4 charging. Progressive Dynamics said I needed a PD4635V, and that I would have to remove (or install?) a jumper if I was going to charge LiFePO4 batteries (eliminate the smart charging features used on conventional batteries). I didn't see mention of that in the install instructions. So. I need a bit of clarification. Thank You.

@Mitch I like talking to Dennis, he's always really helpful and really knows his stuff! We don't have the # PD4635V listed out to fit the 6332 because Progressive Dynamics doesn't have it listed out on their site either, and we typically try to match what the manufacturers have listed so as to avoid confusion. With that being said, if Dennis said this will work with your 6332 then I believe him - a good tech will know that things work even if their website doesn't verify it. Progressive Dynamics went through a product upgrade phase not that long ago which is why you're seeing some confusion around the jumper. In the past you would either need a different converter section or you would have to install a jumper yourself to make that change on this standard version, but the newer models now have a simple switch to flip between battery type modes. Progressive Dynamics even has a statement saying that all units made after January 2023 are already set to the 14.4 Lithium setting since that is becoming the new standard.
