What Kind Of Modification IS Required For Replacing A G6A-8E Water Heater With A Furrion FR98SR
Question:
I have a water heater p/n G6A-8E. Im reading that the tankless Furrion FR98SR is a recommended replacement and I understand that the it is about the same size. My cutout is 12.625 x 16.125. Will the furion really fit? Will I need to do much modification to the gas line and water lines?

Hello Paul. The Furrion RV Tankless Water Heater # FR98SR requires a 12-5/8" wide x 12-5/8" tall x 19-1/4" deep cutout, meaning you will have to modify the cutout slightly for a proper fit. Usually we will just use wood like a 2x4 or plywood to build the cutout to the proper size. Most newer water heaters are smaller than the older units they replace, so this kind of modification is common.
The gas line and water line should use the same size inlets so there will likely be no modifications required for those.
