2023 Toyota Sienna Trailer Sway Control Options
Question:
Hello, We are going to pick up a new 16foot Standard Scamp trailer layout 7 with an approximate dry weight of 1,750lb - 2,000lb being conservative we will probably load this to 2,500 - 2,750. Our vehicle is a 2023 Toyota Sienna Woodland Edition 2.5-liter four-cylinder and two electric motors. We are going in to get a brake control system installed as well as a 2inch ball hitch setup with the standard 1.25inch receiver that is stock on the Sienna 3,500lb towing. With cost being an important factor, what sway bar might make the most sense for this setup? Are there any concerns over the vehicle/ hitch/ towing? Thank you!

Hey Josh, thanks for reaching out!
For just adding sway control to your 2023 Toyota Sienna towing setup I recommend one of the following:
- Curt Friction Sway Control # 17200 and Sway-Control Bracket # RP26005
or
- Curt True Course Advanced Bluetooth Trailer Sway Control # C94VV
The friction sway control is taking the more traditional approach and you'll need to install one bracket to your trailer frame and then the other on that sway-control bracket.
The True Course will plug into your van and trailer 7-Ways and it helps fight sway by slightly activating the electric brakes to self-correct the trailer.
I personally like the True Course more because once it's installed it's easier to use and you'll be able to backup your trailer freely without the potential of damaging the sway control system, but the friction control is more cost-effective which is why I added it in here as well.
