Would a 2001 Ford F 350 2001 Diesel Super Duty 2WD Single Rear Wheels Tow a 31 ft Camper Well

Question:

Looking to upgrade to a fifth wheel 30 or 31 ft with an empty weight of 11,500 to 12000 lbs. Not sure if I need to upgrade my truck or can I use my existing Ford F350

Expert Reply:

Your current 2001 Ford F350 with a single rear wheel axle should do fine to tow a 31 foot fifth wheel camper that weighs 11,500-12,000 lbs. A dual rear wheel axle would be better, but unless you plan on towing your trailer all the time I would stick with your current truck as it should have more than enough capacity for that light of a trailer.

But to be 100% certain you could check your owners manual and check to see what Ford lists as the towing capacities for your truck and make sure your trailer does not exceed this figure when loaded.

I attached an FAQ on fifth wheel trailer towing for you to check out also.
