Can Blue Ox Ascent Tow Bar Be Used for a 2016 Ford Escape and a 2019 Ford Explorer

Question:

Can a blue ox hitch for a motorhome flat tow our 2016 Ford Escape 4 cylinder automatic and my 2019 Ford Explorer 4cyl automatic as well , thank you.

Hey Fred, thanks for reaching out!

Yes, the Blue Ox Ascent Non-Binding Tow Bar - RV Mount - 2-1/2" Hitch # BX4375 will easily be able to handle the weight of your 2016 Ford Escape as well as your 2019 Ford Explorer. I do want to clarify that it will tow them separately - it won't be able to double tow them if that's what you had in mind.

For a complete flat towing setup you will need a base plate kit, tow bar, safety cables, vehicle tow bar wiring, a supplemental braking system, and possibly a high-low adapter. If you do not have all of these components just let me know and I can make some additional recommendations for you.

@Fred Usually a full flat towing setup for 1 vehicle will cost somewhere between $2,500 - $4,000 depending on the parts needed/wanted. If you were setting up 2 at the same time then that cost could go down a little per vehicle since you'd be using the same tow bar, cables, part of the wiring, and part of the brake system.
