How To Measure For Replacement Wheels For A Boat Trailer

Question:

Looking for a boat trailer wheel. Looks like this but I measure 7 wide: Dexstar AM20447 That said, the tiere is ST205/75R14 so I guess the measured wheel diameter is not correct. Also, my wheels are a chrome finish. Im looking for this pattern match the rest. I can send pictures.

Hey Gordon,

If the sidewall of the tire says ST205/75R14 then you should have a 14" diameter wheel. The # AM20447 you were looking is a 15" wheel so you'd want to stick with a 14" wheel unless you have to clearance to increase the sizing. The wheel diameter is measured from bead to bead. I'd also check your wheel bolt pattern just to ensure you don't get the new wheel and find it doesn't match up to the stud pattern of the hub. I've attached a pic below showing how to measure.

If you want to send me some pictures of your current wheels I can take a look at the design and try to find a match for you. See if you can also find the load range by the tire code so we can make sure each wheel is rated for the same capacity.

Hey Kevin, thanks for the reply. It is a 5 bolt pattern, 5 on 4 1/2. Load range C: Max load Dual: 710kg, 1570#. I have pictures; how / where do I upload them? I don't see any upload or attach link.

@Gordon From what I can find the wheel that you emailed me is a vintage vehicle wheel and would not be something we'd have available. It's very common for boat owner's to match the trailer wheel to vehicle wheel for a nice aesthetic so that's likely why you have these wheels. We do have some other options under your ST205/75-14 tire size and 5 on 4-1/2 bolt pattern, which I've linked below.
