Should I Touch Up The Chipped Paint On My Thule TracRac?
Question:
The paint is blistering on my TracRac. As the paint chips away the aluminum under has what looks like a white powder embedded in the metal. Is this weakening the rack? Something I should be concerned about? Should I reseal the metal somehow?

Sorry to hear that David. I have heard of this happening on rare occasion with older TracRac models. It will not necessarily weaken the rack since it is aluminum, but nonetheless we do recommend that you paint and reseal the metal. Not only will it look better but it will help to protect the aluminum. I would take a bit of sandpaper to it and rub it down then just use a primer and paint designed for aluminum. Rustoleum is an inexpensive option that would do the trick.
